Grant Projects

As a department, we participate as investigators or co-investigators in various grants announced by state organisations such as the Czech Science Foundation (GA CR), the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT), the CTU Student Grant Competition (SGS), etc.



Previously investigated grant topics include:
  • Development of a pre-charging unit for a hybrid circuit breaker.
  • Development of a compact charger based on GaN transistors.
  • Development of anti-slip protection for a freight locomotive.

Industry Cooperation

The department also cooperates within contract research with industrial partners such as Porsche Engineering, Eaton, Innomotics, Siemens, CRRC, Brema, etc.



Previously investigated contract research topics include:
  • Development of drive control for a jet ski.
  • Development of drive control for an electric bicycle.
  • Design of control and simulation of an on-board electric vehicle charger based on a matrix converter.

Available Instruments and Equipment

Selected laboratory equipment that the department can offer for contract research, measurements, testing and cooperation with industry.

Power analyzers

Measurement of electrical quantities, efficiency, losses and parameters of power converters, electrical machines and drives.

Oscilloscopes and measuring equipment

Multi-channel oscilloscopes, probes, multimeters and other equipment for electrical signal analysis.

Electronic power supplies and grid simulators

Programmable power supplies, two-quadrant and four-quadrant systems for testing converters, drives, batteries and power supply devices.

Dynamometers and load test benches

Test benches for measuring electrical machines and drives. Measurement of torque, speed and load characteristics.

Electrical machines and converters

Asynchronous, synchronous and DC machines, frequency converters, rectifiers and other power electronics.

Simulation and development tools

Facilities for design, simulation, control and verification of electric drives, power converters and traction systems. HiL systems, model-based design.

eForce FEE Prague FormulaEFORCE logo

eForce FEE Prague Formula is a student project of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU, focused on the development and construction of electric-powered racing formula cars. The eForce team designs and builds its own single-seaters, which compete in the international Formula Student competition.

Students involved in the project gain practical experience in the design, manufacturing, testing and racing of electric vehicles, while also developing their technical and managerial skills. The eForce team regularly ranks among the best student teams in this prestigious competition. The formula project is administered by the Department of Electric Drives and Traction.
